A large storm cell centered over the upper mid-west brought showers and the occasional thunder-boom just after 4:30 EST Thursday. The multistate cell, thought to originally bring only a few showers Thursday afternoon, brought a significant rain event over one quarter of an inch along with solid thunderstorms. According to the National Weather Service in Detroit, the rain and thunderstorms are expected to continue through 3 a.m. Friday and pick up again around 6 p.m. They are expected to subside before midnight, setting up a beautiful sunny and 75 degree Saturday.
